Trying Something New

This week as we continue our series: "6 Things I Hate About Christians" we'll be talking about the perception that Christians are just too political.  So figured I'd ask for your input.  You can vote by texting (replace "keyword" with the number next to yes or no) or clicking your answer in the bottom box and results should update in real time.  The poll is only going to be open for a short time, but let me know what you think.

I get so annoyed how Christians automatically think republicans are pro-life. FOr example, this last election neighter canadite was pro-life. One just acted like he was.

Christians must be political. If we don't speak out about what's going on in our country than we don't have a right to complain about the country moving farther and farther from the Lord!

I agree that as Americans we are entitled to our political views and we should most definitely do our best to make those views known at the proper place and time (i.e. voting booths, town hall meetings, debates, etc.), but when we are too concerned in our daily lives about the issue to see the person hurting as a result of those issues, we've gone too far. When we rely on government to impose moral laws that should be the domain of the church, we are losing the battle for the heart of our country. When we criticize and complain about our political leaders instead of praying for their wisdom and discernment, we have made a grave mistake of placing our faith in the future of this country on the shoulders of mankind instead of the Creator.

Talking about politics and talking about religious beliefs are similar. Those are the subjects that you whisper about at a restraunt or waiting in line somewhere. Typically because both politics and religion have strong worldviews defining them and most people dont want to "get into it" with a fellow citizen who disagrees with them...politics and religion are messy...thank God they will both be dead in heaven.
